Except as otherwise indicated below, our products are finished with a hard-dyring acrylic polish that highlights the natural black iron colour of iron, and does not hide any detail of the forging process.  This is a long lasting indoor finish which may be restored very simply by wiping the ironwork with any suitable clear polish such as 'Future' floor polish.

Items that we expect to get wet are treated with a different finish.  In order to be more environmentally responsible we are using a water based urethane finish that is working out very well.  However, this finish is not suitable for items that will stay wet for hours.  If our products are to be used in extreme conditions we suggest an additional coat of metal lacquer be applied first.

Items that have been given this water resistant finish are:

* Bathroom accessories (except towel rails which are powder-coated for maximum durability)
* Plant Accessories
* Coat stands
* Umbrella stands
* Door Knockers are lacquered

The other items in this website are usually used in a dry location, and any finish will be more than adequate.

ANY FINISH WEARS OFF WITH TIME, OCCASIONAL MAINTENANCE SHOULD BE EXPECTED.
